When starting my '02 RM250 it revs higher (like it leans out) when I pull the choke nob up? I have the by-pass "clicks" set at stock 12 clicks and stock jetting ( 170 main, 48 slow, clip on 3rd notch).

This bike is new to me so I was wondering what might be causing this?

There's nothing wrong with it. The choke knob lets more gas in when it's pulled up. When it is warming up I usually play with the choke so it doesn't just sit there at a high idle.

Thanks RM Guy, I wasn't sure if it indicated a jetting problem or leak or something.

Speaking of jetting do you have a recommendation for this year model at sea level. It seems to spooge a little.

Stock jetting is always rich and they seem to change it every year but on my '01 I run a 158 main, 42 pilot, needle at 2nd from the top, I cut the slide .5 mm and the air screw at 1.5 turns out. Mine still spooges at the low end and I'm going to a 1/2 leaner needle in the Spring (too cold out now) but runs crisp.

My stock jetting wasn't as rich as yours so work your way down until the spooge clears up.
