The part that really has me confused is removing the peening at the end of the shaft.  My service manual makes no mention of this procedure, but the article above does.  I also read the guide by MX Tech which says to remove the peening.

I have a 2001 KX 250 with a Kayaba Shock.  Do I need to removing the peening on this shock?  If so, can anyone provide me a more detailed/clearer picture than the one provided in the link above?

What parts will I need to order to do this job?  Where is the best/cheapest place to order these parts?
