it's just the annual increase in price. not really related to new technology or anything

ya no kiddin they jacked up the price, added a step to the finishing process, called it *NEW AND IMPROVED TECHNOLOGY* and had a lure to have people pay the price they wanted

FIM rules dictate that the end be smooth vs. the old style. The idea is to keep anyone from being impaled on the pipe. I believe the AMA is set to adopt the same rule next year.
