Well I have finally arrived at the time of my life where it is my turn to teach my son how to ride in the woods and bounce of of trees . I would like to know from of you out there how the KDX does in the slow riding, teaching mode. I assume that I will be getting on and off the bike in order to help my son negotiate logs, water, mud and the ruts found on the trail. Will the KDX loadup and foul plugs in slow riding and is overheating a problem? In the Texas heat I dont want to have more problems that I can handle in one day. Any KDX riders from the houston area still ride in the Sam Houston Nat'l Forest. I would apperciate any advice you are willing to spare. :yikes:

The KDX is sold jetted very rich, but will not load up if you jet it properly. See the KDX forum for jetting. But search first and ask questions second. As for heat my 220 will tractor around for hours at about 80 F temps. I don't ride if its hotter ;)

P.S. Welcome to, and to that time in your life, pay attention it goes by fast!

Good on You!

Congratulations on "this period of your life"! I too am enjoying riding with my 10 year old son... it really does not get much better than this IMO.

I have taken some "heat" for keeping the kickstand on my bike, but I'm glad I didn't remove it. (You're riding in the woods, so proping your bike may not be a problem...

We've been riding mostly in the desert and My "riding partner" sometimes can't restart his own bike-and he is not strong enough to hold a 450 up...I grown quite fond of that kickstand

Enjoy

Howdy from the DFW Metromess and welcome to the site

Regarding your question, Kevin has the best advice, check out the KDX forum. They should know the answers. The National Forest is a great place to ride except during hunting season. We keep talking about coming down that way during the winter months. Watch the North Texas Smack Pack forum for a thread.

Again, welcome to DRN. We hope you enjoy your stay here and come back often!
