On the 95 up KDX's, is there a part number, or something you can use to replace these things? (mine are all hacked up from a screwdriver) They are the notched nut things that hold on and compress the rear shock. On www.buykawasaki.com , there is no part #. thanks.

Look under the heading for the shock absorber they have both of them there, top one prt#92015-1704 and the bottom one prt#92015-1703 looks like its the same for all 89-03 kdx's.
Try to use a punch(I use a piece of aluminium rod) to loosen and tighten the top lock nut, you can usually spin the spring to rotate the lower one.

re: you can usually spin the spring to rotate the lower one.

Use the sprayer you keep your soapy water in for tire changes to wet down the shock. Makes turning the spring (to adjust the length...sag) easier.

So do gloves. ;)

So does having the bike on a stand (unload the suspension). ;) ;)

yep, it was on the stand, rear wheel off the ground. Thanks for those #'s... I was looking under the rear suspension page. Guess it was the wrong one.
