I scrape the plastics with a razor blade, then work my way from 360 grit sandpaper to 2000 grit and then polish. It takes a long time but it's well worth it. Cheers
My kids blue TTR90: I've used a heat gun to bring back the "blue" color that turned white from bending. it's odd, but it worked. I don't know about big areas, but those "bent" creases worked ok.
I wet-sanded an old Honda red plastic tank years back too. It was faded to white in places, but yes, a lot of elbow grease, but looked great with silicone polish on it. I don't think the polish lasted long, but another does of polish brings it back to life.
If you commit to sanding, you have to go all in, if you stop before it's really smooth (fine paper), it won't ever look good.
Keep google-ing, I recall a before & after example done on quad plastics someplace.
