These guys are describing a lean condition. Could be due to too small of a pilot jet, but if it ever did run right it now has developed the lean condition from; some kind of vacuum leak, a plugged idle circuit in the carb, it's fuel starving (plugged screen in gas tank, damaged/plugged fuel petcock, needle and seat assembly in carb plugged/sticking), or could be as simple as being on the edge of running out of gas in the tank. Is the idle screw set way too high? Is the throttle valve (slide) sticking/not fully closing? Did your fuel to oil ratio accidentally get doubled on this tank of fuel? Happy searching.
