The most recent installment shows a marked improvement but at this point Ryan could use the support of fellow riders Monday, November 16, 2009 9:57 AM, CST Good Morning. Ryan had a pretty good night they said. We had to step out because they have to fix something with his breathing tube...hope that isn't anything major! They had his sedation down to 15 but he was just acting fidgety and uncomfortable so they raised it back up a little and gave him some pain medicine. He is off the Phetanol which is his constant pain medicine (I think that is right....brain lapse here!) They said he was getting such a small amount that they can take him off and give it to him in other ways to hopefully get things moving a little more (digestive system that is) They are attempting to feed him again and she said he is tolerating a very small amount but a little is better than nothing. They had to adjust his breathing tube down another centimeter as it had moved up a little when they did his chest xray this morning. The pulmonologist was in and said he wants to keep him on the breathing machine and look at it again on Wednesday and see how he's doing. They did lower it down to 10 breaths/minute so he is breathing on his own...just with a little help from the machine and a safety net in case if he doesn't at some point. My feeling is they are going to give him a few more days on the breathing machine to hopefully get him enough strength that they won't have to do a tracheotomy but we don't know for sure. Have to see how he progresses. He does have contusions on his lungs so I'm sure it will be a little more painful to cough to get the excretions out which is what they need him to do. Maybe by Wednesday he'll tolerate the feedings and get some more strength and rest to do it on his own....all we can do is hope! He is a lot more alert now since they lowered his meds which is actually hard....it's nice to see his eyes and know he can move, but its hard to see him more irritable. They say he has to be alert though for him to get the breathing tube out so hopefully it will be just a few more days but they said they can leave it in up to 2 weeks, which would be Sunday so we'll see. Hope you all have a good day! Thanks again for the ecards and posts! Ryan will be VERY excited when he finds out he got an ecard from Sean Hamblin who is a pro motocross racer!!! He even gave him his email address.....that shows a TRUE professional mxer when they can take the time to do something like that for someone they don't even know! Grandma counted his ecards as of yesterday he had 105, then he got another 9 so he's at 114 just ecards! Thank you so much!!! He's going to be able to see them soon!!! We keep reading them to him!! Love, Dawn and Mike
