This is Jasons post from another forum about what happened....... "I was actually fairly busy today with work despite not being there . It also takes me about 3 hours to get a shower . So anyway.... I remeber as if it twer yeaster day....... Day started out just great, made good time drivig and pulled in right behind randy and his crew. I drove straigt into Pargon this time as I had not reason to stop in the camp ground so I checked in my Driver licnese for once . We got situated and got under way in good time right around 10 I think. 4 bike riders head out and soon find the single track and jump on. We ride a few sections and the older gentle man, Steve I think? had said the single track was taking a toll on him. We encorged him to continue and said we had no problem waiting, we really were not waiting long for him at all, he was a pretty fast guy despite his age. We managed to drop him and rode like 2 sections back after waiting and decided he lost the trail or just headed for some more open trails so the 3 of us continued and man what a blast we had! whe rode at a great swift pace and I really felt I was getting a great work out, awesome ride, and great training for trying some enduro racing next year. We were well on pace to maybe ride ALL the single track and by 12 noon or so we were on some particularly slimey single track that cuts by the good the bad and the ugly area I think heading away from valley raod and the pipe line riding in the moonshine direction. We stopped and scouted a path out around a section that was REAL muddy and under scum water for the most part. we got back in the grove and on the trail, Randy in front, Me, then Brad ? I think. So anyway, the tree. It was a 3 inch tree maybe, young smooth bark type, snapped off so it was still maybe 10" inches off the ground? It was at a bad angle to the trail as in not square, I went to loft the front over it and I think maybe I got the front over it and maybe it was my beat rear tire that did not bite the bark and the greased rail effect took over, either way, I think I was high sided and was in good position to step off and not even touch a hand to the ground whe I just feel my leg blow out. The dude behind me said he did not see the bike hit me but I think some how it slammed into the back of my leg just after I planted my right foot. The doctor says the break and bruising to the back of my leg indicates and High energy blunt trama and I recall feeling the knobs of the back tire on the back of my leg. I recall just knowing I had toasted my leg and laying down on my right side and scooting to get clear of the bike as I was affraid I had got sucked up by the rear wheel. I stabelised the foot and leg by laying on my side in kind of a fetal position. I told the dude I was NOT ok when he asked and I asked him to call Paragon EMTs. I was the only one with a phone so I grabbed it out of my pack and called paragon wich I was lucky to have programed in after having to call for an injured rider we came across a few weeks ago. Randy came back and we sent him out to try to locate our position by the nearest trail. I called PAP and told them I was hurt in the far end of the park on the single track and to please ready the EMT team and call the ambulacne while we figured out where we were. I gave em my name and cell # We found out we were off the pipe line I think by trail 71 and I called them back and they said they were under way. I called my sweet girlfrined and let her know the news. I told her to stay calm try to call my bud that had been up there before with his pick up since I had her truck, and come up and recover my bike wich they did for me very well. She picked up my licnese as well. Paragon staff arives, first guy I see is Kyle, great guy BTW if you dont already know. This guy GAVE me the flanel shirt off his back to help keep me warm untill I got to the ambulance. As you can imange, getting me on the back board, on the back of the quad rack, out to the main trail, and to the highway was no quick or easy task. Things started to get fuzzy for me from there but I can tell you this, I howlled like a mad man from the pain, I PLEEDED for them to NOT remove by boot. Any way, got in the ambulance, started getting the pain killers to what felt like no avail. Howled like a mad man and PLEEDED for them to not remove my boot wich they thank goodness did not do after much debate. From there it was to Hazelton to the chopper pad, to Lehigh, to the ER, OR, ect, ect. Anyway, Special thanks to : The dudes I was riding with, you guys keept your heads and stayed by my side and got me out of there. The guys we did not ride with that got me out of there on the quad, that dude did a great job of crawling me out of there and Kyle spotting the best trail and moving every rock and tree he could. Ill NEVER diss quads again, reguardless of who is riding them . Paragon and staff, you guys did a great job, imagine trying to get, found, or out of the woods justed up like that??? forget it! I dont even want to think about it. EMTs, pilots, Doctors, Nurses, nuff said. My buds for driving up toot sweet to take care of my bike. My girl, she did awesome, did not panic, and has been at my side from the ER to now. You rock babe Guys, we all know to ride with good gear, but good gear includes your cell phone. Also, if your at an big park like PAP, not a bad idea to pre program the #. I could have gotten it from 411 but if your hurt, the less you have to think of and the faster you can get help the better. I had a GREAT ride and I dont regret it at all, 14 years of dirt ridng, risks are part of the sport, I do what I can, I ride with good gear, not the best but what I feel is good safe standard gear, I was riding with a group, in a legal organized area with in my limits, just a normal fall with a bad bounce. Ill be back in the saddel next year when the leg feels good and strong. I may add an 03 auto decomp cam to make kicing easier, we shall see. Sorry for bad spelling, its late, Im on drugs, what ever, Im not checking it. Deal with it. . "
