I'm lookin into buying another 2-stroke to play around on in the trails, maybe take to the local track once in a while. Nothing fancy or "tricked out".

My fath-in-law bought a 1994 CR 125, and it's plenty of power for what we're doing. My bro-in-law bought a 1998 KX 125.

So I'm thinking of buying something in the 1993 to 1999 range. Definitely a 125. I've had 250's before, and just don't need or want that much power.

I've seen a lot of mid-90s CR and RM's for sale. Usually in the $1000-1200 price range. Is there anything to "watch out" for from these 10-15 year old dirt bikes? Any brand better or worse than the rest from this era? Is there any reason I'd want to AVOID a certain brand from this year range?

BTW: I'm 30 yrs old, 5'6" tall and about 200 lbs.
I have over 10 years of riding experience, but I haven't ridden in about 10 years. I do not plan to race. I will do my own wrenching, and have all the tools to do so. I still ride 4x4 ATVs on a very regular basis, so I'm no stranger to engines, tuning, etc....
