Anyone up for a ride during the week between Christmas and New Years? I'm taking that week off and would like to get a ride together. Ocotillo would probably be the best bet. But I'm up for Corral or even a track also.

I just got a new job so it might be a while before I get to ride again. :( I told them up front that I wanted that week off. :ride:

I have that week off also so we could get together one day. I''ve planned to go to the dunes with Steve for New Years but we haven't discussed all the particulars yet.

Congratulations on the new job.

Going north to ride is only an hour or so longer drive than Ocotillo. Plus the riding is 99.9% better up in the high desert. I'd like to have time off, but Thurs the 30 would be it. I may be up for Lucerne or Barstow ride that day. Then again Ocotillo is a better place for the kids and I know they would like to ride too.

I'd be into some riding anyplace out in the high dez over the holidays, even christmas day... I know of two full on motocross tracks out in the dez just sitting out there... One of them the jumps are way too big for me but it's still a fun place... I'd like to see someone hit it, maybe learn something... The other tracks jumps are still pretty big but I can do half of them... One jump is over six bike lenths right out of a turn (I can't do it), the others are about three or four bike lenths... also I know of some fun places I could show you guys near Joshua tree... The high dez is the best... I know of this trail that leads from Yucca valley all the way to Desert Hot Springs, it's pretty cool... It ends up at an abandoned mine with burned out cars, and wierd stuff, abanded buildings, and human wreckage... Also Indio Hills is awsome too, it has sand, dirt, and hard pack, rockey passes, it's great... Also palm springs has some huge sand hills in the center of the valley, way fun... Were I live is funner than ocotillo...

Would this include the weekend of New Years? The only day I have off that week is Friday (and the weekend, obviously).

Elsinore is doing fine now, lots of tracks to choose from, jumps a plenty! I'll be out there on some days, got 3 weks off for x-mas through the new year. I'll post when I can go, trying to heal up my knee and left hand, then it'll be to the track and ocotillo!

Just tryin to decide Ocotillo Wells or Glamis. I have a buddy who'll be in Glamis that whole week so I'm leaning that way. :aj:

I'm pretty much limited to the week days and probably not much further than Ocotillo. I'd also be into Corral or the tracks.

There seem to be quite a few people riding that week so it sure would be nice to ride with some fella DRN'ers. So let's put together a ride and I can probably be talked into just about anywhere withing my leash length.

I should be healed up enough to do a ride by then. Where does everyone want to go??? :yeehaw: :yeehaw:

dante's trail from Joshua tree to Desert hot springs sounds interesting.

I am planning to ride on Decmber 30th. I would possibly be up for the ride in around Yucca/Palm Springs. Or outside Barstow, are you talking about Paradise Valley? Or somewhere else besides the San Diego stuff because it is too far.

I will also be going to Jawbone/Dove Springs on December 20th.

89r,

How far of a drive is that from Carlsbad?

George.

I don't think you can get there from Carlsbad? :yikes: :rotfl:

Actually, if would be quite a drive for you. Lots of two lane stuff. How long does it take you to get to my place? Add about 2 hours to that.

Maybe we should pick somewhere closer.

the trail from Yucca Valley to Desert Hot Springs is really fun, but it's not very long... allot quicker than in the car on surface streets... Maybe it's just that it's really fast allot of straights, with some kinks, and a few hill climbs... It's one of those power line trails... I guess there and back could be a full ride, with some more riding in Yucca Valley more hill climbs and jumps... We could do a ride from the abandoned motocross track play around there, then up a whooped out sand run, with burms up to the DHS trail, play around in the mining area, and back to Yucca for lunch it would be a solid ride...

Hey fred2- a lot of ideas going around, but how about Corral Canyon (Via Pine Valley) on Mon the 27th then you have the rest of the week to plan a different ride. We could stage at the Pine Valley exit by 10:00am thus it wouldn't be too cold (hopefully) and be done by about 3-4pm. Since it would be on Mon. I don't think it would be very crowded either. Let me know if you or anyone else is up for it.

Carlsbad to the high dez is not that bad of a drive I do it all the time. With no traffic 2-2.5 hr from Fallbrook. from C-Bad add the extra 30 mins or so. No traffic is the key.

Just go 5,76,15,215,18,247 and your there at Soggy and such. Or go 5,76,10,62 and you up in Dante's ride zone. Either way good riding and some nice rocky goat trails.

Wish I could make it, but can't.

Terry,

That would be quite a drive. It takes around 1 1/2 hours to get to your place.

Tree,

I am kinda leaning toward a Corral ride. My neighbor and I really riding there. And we haven't done the Pine Valley trail. Is that the road where you used to be able to shoot your guns? I remember a few spots out that way a buddy and I used to target shoot on a hill side. It would be pretty cool if we could get a few people together. Unfortunately I'll be only be able to do 1 ride during that week. :-(

If it would work out with more people though I'd rather hit Ocotillo. 89r? Elk?

Post when and where and I might be able to make it. I'll have rode or raced 3 straight weekends in Dec. So going out that week shouldn't be a probelm with the family because we don't start up the race series again until a whole week after New Year. :clue: :pissed: :worship:

Yeah, I think I can sell that. I might have to get her a better Christmas present this year. Maybe a Blender and Knife set ;)

ya can't get her a kitchen thing... It's got to be new shoes, clothes, or a gift certificate to a spa but not a kitchen/cooking cleaning thing... That's an E ticket straight to the dog house fer sure...
