i've replaced top ends before, but have never really payed tooo much attention to the ring wear. This time tho i had 2 pull the cylinder off again because the gaskets were leaking and i looked at the ring. It actually seems more warn than the old one that was in it, and this was just after letting it idle a few times. What should the ring actually look like as it is getting broken in???
