RM 250 wont run??????????????????????

just swapped out the needle( nw3k 3rd clip to ny3k 2nd clip), cleaned the carb,repacked the silencer, cleaned the filter, put dielectric grease on the electrical connections, and put the stock reed cage and reeds back in( i had vforce but noticed a cracked petal) so i put the stock setup back to run until i get replacement petals, and put fresh gas in it. anyway i kicked it over about 10 times and it didnt fire once so i tried bump starting with the same result :think: i havent ran the bike in 3 weeks because i was on vacation and i had no problems starting it before this. i poured a little oil down the cylinder before i left 3 weeks ago and kicked it over a few times to prevent corrosion.after it didnt start i removed the plug, touched it to the head and kicked it a few times seems to have decent spark though i did notice it was a little wet and had some carbon buildup. as i was putting the plug back in i noticed a scratch on the frame behind the kick lever, turns out the the kick lever is cracked and it flexes when i kick it and hits the frame :bang: there goes 90$. after that i was kind of frustrated and considering it was over 100 degrees out i decided to leave it until tomorrow. im thinking it probably has something to do with the work i did on it considering it started right up 3 weeks ago when i last ran it. also is there any way to check if it is getting fuel without pulling apart the carb?

PS: i havent ridden in over a month and i need to ride ASAP

well you said you have spark so next you need air/fuel. So maybe you put the carb back together wrong or something got in there right before you put it back together?

i thought about that but i didnt touch the pilot at all isnt this the only jet it needs to idle? the only two things i touched were the needle and the float when i removed it to clean it. is there anything specifically on the carb that i should check?

also: might be a dumb question but i dont know much about electronics. when i put dielectric grease on all the connections is it possible that a bad connection could throw off the timing?

not to sure about throwing off the timing, i never used that grease but i assume it is for electronics and should still produce the correct current and such that flows through everything. I would check your carb still, maybe the floats arent seated correctly or perhaps they got out of adjustment during install.

Most carbs have a cap at the bottom of the bowel which you can remove to see if there is fuel in the carb , Put a new spark plug in .

see if there is fuel in the bowl like the other guy is tlkin about
if not the floats might be in backwards or upside down
grease shouldn't hurt ,your still gettin fire ? right
spray some starting fluid in the spark plug hole, not a lot but enough to start it

Turn your gas on and tilt the bike to the left and see if fuel pours out the overflows. If not, then your floats are stuck and you not getting fuel. Just a quick check.

You said you took out the V-force reeds and put the stock ones back in. Did you put in a new intake boot? To mount the v-Force you have to cut away part of the stock boot. That could be your problem.

i used the same boot that i cut for the vforce i didnt even remember that its cut until now. i guess ill have to come up with some new vforce reed petals

also i tried putting a small amount of gas in the spark plug hole with a syringe still nothing.

today im going to try some starting fluid just to make sure i dont have an ignition problem. tomorrow im going to go get another spark plug as i seemed to have misplaced the extra one i had

I wouldn't use starting fluid or gas through the spark plug hole. Not that I haven't been guilty of this, but it will prove nothing and could damage your rod/piston. I'd put the old Vforce reed back in with a new plug and try it out. If so, you solved the problem and can replace the Vforce or boot with stock reed at a later time. These bikes should fire up easily if everthing is right. The starting fluid won't help you solve the problem if you plug is arcing correctly as it appears.

got it running, i cleaned out the carb and as i was re-installing it i noticed the choke/bypass was all the way closed. i opened it back up to 12 clicks put the carb on and it fired right up.

thanks for the help
