So I know that a KDX200 engine will fit into a KX125 chassis with only a few modifications, but my question is, how easily will it fit into a 2001 RM 125 chassis?? Was this the period in time when Kawasakis and Suzukis were relatively the same thing?? Any insight or discussion would be helpful. I'm asking because I happen to have a 2000 KDX 200 and a 2001 RM 125 that I have been thinking of mating into an RM 200 :cool:
/\/\/\/\LOL I know in 2003 when Kawi came out with the KFX 400 it was the same fourwheelers as the Suzuki LTZ 400, or Z-400. But anything is possible with a little time and money.
do it! I would love to see that done. I'm keeping eyes open for a 125 rolling chassis to do a hybrid with. I'm open to anything at all and then I'll just do what I need to do to make it work. I'm handy enough myself, and a good friend has a really nice new mig welder.
The KDX cases needed to be machined (narrower) to use the swing arm from the KX125 chassis, so it is not a bold-in affair; also the KX125 was a (lower in elevation) case-reed intake whereas the KDX is (higher) piston port. This, with a few modified lower engine tabs and head stay, yes: it works.
I like the one recently where a guy took a CR500 engine and put it in a RM250 rolling chassis. He said it was the easiest swaps thus far. I believe it was in the Thumpertalk CR/2-Stroke forum.
