My bike spits BLACK thick pasty oil fr the silencer and also soakes my plug with it, I brought my bike to two mechanics and they said The oil spew would be caused by the crank case seal leaking, the bike is a 2001 so they were puzzled as to how the seal would be gone already,
also i heard the the 2001 rm has a very problematic ignition.
some people on this forum say it's jetting but ppl here say Crank seal, could it be anything else?
Its is probably jetted to ritch, iv never heard of a bike spewing spooge from having a blowen crankcase seal...the bike wouldnt run very good or run at all if the crankcase seal was shotty. If the bike sputters alot when your on the throttle its probably jetted to ritch.
The bike will still run if the seal leaks, it will just run rich like you describe. I think that it is more likely that it just needs rejetted but if you want the seals isn't very much just replace them. They can be replaced without splitting the cases. You just need a flywheel puller.
if you want proof, drain your oil, put a known volume of oil back in and then go for a long ride. then drain the oil again and see how much you have left!
but i very much expect that all is needed is a few extra jets and some playing. Its suprising what 1 smaller on the pilot will do!
