Im looking for a new bike and i found an 84' rm500. Are these bikes good bikes in terms of reliability, parts availability, and performance? I cant seem to ind that much info on them in the web so im hoping some members can shed some light on this.
Well no one has answered and I think that is kind of an answer in itself. Don't know anything about these bikes except Suzuki was among the first to drop the 500 open class bikes. My guess is that this is going to be a bear to get parts for. They aren't as sought after as the Kawa or Honda. Unless it's a really good deal, in awesome condition or you have some emotional attachment to that bike, I'd probably pass. But then again, I'm not really practical at these matters, so good luck !!
Yeah, what he said! Unless you're really into pain (finding parts) or just gotta have it, I'd probably pass. But don't take what I have to say very seriously I just drug home an '82 YZ 490. You wanna talk about a POS! Lol! But I hadda have it! :coocoo:
I do not see any rod kits yet available, for my 370 or 400, 76 to 78. I have not researched the 79 or newer. Wiseco has kicked out a lot of the older bikes top end kits also. I sure hope for you the 500 parts are still around. They may have wiped out my Honda parts by now! Vintage Bob
