For tuning purposes the the BR10 through BR8 (ES) is generally used. The 10 is the coldest plug and the 8 is the hottest. Many that are fouling plugs go to a 9 or 8 to help burn deposits off the plug to keep it from fouling. It is a better idea to jet the bike properly and use a colder plug. This is especially true with highly modified motors that run wide open most of the time.
If you are running a stock motor and stock jetting and fouling BR10ES plugs after a few rides a 9 or maybe a 8 should be O.K. If not stick with the 10.
