The thread "Road Trip Music" made me think about munchies too, so here it is:

What is your favorite road trip munchie?

Mine is mesquite-smoked beef jerky!

Are you guys already trying to mark a few things off that Reno trip checklist?:D

I've gotta say, Pringles (although the ones in the bottom half of the can are quite difficult to get to when driving) and Gatorade. Coke or coffee if I'm getting tired.

If you drive through a small town in Texas you might know what an Allsup's is. They make these fried burritos that are awsome when they are hot. They are realy bad for you, but if I see a fresh batch all nice an hot I just have to have one. Some people call them "gut granades" or "belly busters". Other than that I just take water and friut.

Hahaha Man my truck is a mess with sunflower seeds. Ever since I quit smoking I've been hooked on them. 1 out of 3 gets blown back in the truck when I spit em out. Going to Fl. next week, I'll have to bring about 10 lbs of them:)

Definitely sunflower seeds. I also take Dorritos, Slim Jims, and for the sweet tooth some Crunch-n-Munch. To drink, I can always count on Mountain Dews to keep me awake on the long drives.:scream:

If I'm taking an extended road trip, I always take a gallon of Milo's sweet tea (made with honey!).

And while I ain't no Volvo drivin', granola munchin', Birkenstock flauntin' greenie, I do like trail mix. I prefer the dried fruit kind, but the Planter's nut/M&M combo is pretty good too.

I used to keep a big chunk o' cow in the back seat, and I would just saw off a big hunk every 100 miles or so. mmmmMMMM! Nothin' says "healthy" like gnawing on a big ol' slab of beef.

Danman,

You just brought back some memories of home. I used to live in Brownfield! I miss those fried Allsup's burritos! Can't find a good substitute down here Louisiana. Next favorite on the list is beef jerky and a Big Red or a Dr Pepper.

Right on brutha!! ;)

Depends on who I'm driving with. If I feel like torturing my fellow roadtripers like Farmer John and Billywho or AJ and Kiwi, I'll down multiple Mountain Dews, cappuccinos and a bag of smarties then incessantly prattle on in a high pitched whine until I get the spins, laugh myself silly and pass out. ;)

As much as I hate to say it……….. beef jerky is usually the road trip snack of choice.

I have a friend who makes his own deer jerky and it's awsome. That and a big can of RockStar and you're good to go.

Cow Killer!!! ;)

Yup beef jerky and the DEW are good staples, but ya can't forget the hot 'n spicy PORK RINDS. The greasy kind made by the local tortilla company. Mmmmm.

Oh yeah, and out this way we call them fried burritos, "Chimichangas." A gut granade indeed!

I try to discourage eating in my Cherokee. I usually dip the whole way (Timberwolf or Skoal wintergreen), drinks are usually orange Gatorade or water. The empty bottles are great for spitting:)
