my 490 revs out like 40% and stops like it hits a limiter.

i think it's some sort of electrical problem
what can cause this type of problem?

maybe i need new stator coils or black box?
the bike is hard to start but once it's going it idles nice
i think this bike has a low speed and high speed coil
maybe the high speed one is screwed up

This is probably a completely irrevelant and stupid reply... but, I have experienced a simliar symptom with bikes whos main bearings or other bearings were on the way out. if you know what I mean. the bikes popped and wouldn't rev past x rpm. this eventually turned into a bottom end growl pretty quick tho. just something to think about.

when i tested my bike last it ran way better
i had put new reeds in there, made the performance like 500% better
the old ones were wore out, now the bike hauls ass and power wheelies.

my plugs are still dry and sooty tho, gunna change my mix to 40:1 i guess
with some fresh gas and see how that works out, might need to tweak the jetting
