Run'n with out a silencer

Hi,
I don't compete but I ride a '93 RM250.
How bad is it to run the bike without a silencer?

Uh, besides the loss of power, sounding like complete crap and pissing a lot of people off (including other riders), it's fine.

OK, OK, I know I'm a "wicked tard" that just likes to ride once in a while but, since I like to piss people off and think the sound is very KEWL how is it a power "loss"? I remember when I raced a '79 RM125 with a straight pipe, it was way quicker.
Seriously though, thanks for your responses.
