Shelton Fairgrounds (???)

I've heard a lot about this riding area (in Shelton, WA I presume) and how it's good for some mellow trailriding.

I know there were some Poker Runs there in the past but I thought the place was closed to the public on non-event days.

Does anyone have some info on it, like how to get there and if it's open to the public?

Thanks in advance...Dave

The area is behind the fairgrounds in Shelton. It is private land and technically only open for events or for PSER club members. Go to the NMA website and they should have some information on PSER. Bottom line is it is only open for races and poker runs unless you are a clube member. If you don't have a course to follow, or a guide, it would be pretty tough anyway because there are probably 100 miles of trails, none of which are marked unless it is a sanctioned event. PSER has 4-5 events a year. Best way is to go to one.

If you want legal casual trail riding, Belfair (Tahuya) is probably a better bet year around.

I'd also suggest Tahuya is a better bet for casual riding and Capitol Forest better for a bit more challenging ride. Techincally it is private land and you don't have permission to ride there unless you are a member of the club. It you want a more challanging ride check out the Upper Reiter area and Evans Creek.
