shifting out of neutral

Hey I recently bought a Suzuki DRZ125L, but whenever i give it gas to shift out of neutral into first i jolt forward even to the point where the front wheel lifted up a bit. Is there something I am doing wrong and how can I improve?

Perhaps you should not give it gas when taking it out of neutral. Put it in gear and used the throttle while getting it moving.

I agree. Why give it gas just to put it in gear? If you quit giving it gas and it still jerks a lot then it's your clutch.
