Have a 1976 kawasaki KE125, but this would apply to all bikes.

Is it OK to shift without a clutch? Both down and upshift?

I've always wondered this, and try to use the clutch, but have been told you can do it both ways.

Any comments?

Thanks, Ken

I have a van & am often called upon to help shift. I guess you could use a KE125 but be careful to distribute the load evenly. Cops get real pissy if you drop a sofa on the roadway -let me tell ya.

Must be a Kiwi joke, cause I'm lost!!!

I have read some people say its ok and other say you wear out parts quicker. This is probably just one more of those things that everyone has opinions but no evidence to back it up.

It is possible to shift without the clutch without damaging anything IF the shifting is done skillfully. If you feel any jerks or roughness, or if the shift lever requires extra pressure to shift without the clutch, then it is causing damage. Yes, David is having some fun with you.
