Ok well first off let me say that I'm new here, and fairly new to dirt bikes.
So my question is I'm thinkin of savin my money(I'm 16 haha) and buyin a dirt bike, but I'm not sure what to get.
I'm around 5"7'~5"8' and weigh about 125lbs, do you guys think I should get a 250(thinkin about a yz250f, or a crf250r) or just step it down and get a 125?

a 125 is not a "Step down" 125s are super light snappy cheap to repair and produce about the same horsepower of a 250 4stroke.

I think that a 125 would be a wise choice. I bought a 2005 cr125 and have been riding it since then. I am now 190 lbs and it still has enough power to be extremely fun but not so much that I get in trouble...too much trouble, that is. Plus they are cheap to own.

Im your exact height and weight and ride a 125. Its plenty a handfull for me cause im fairly new. Ive ridden 250s and they are a bit much in my opinion for a beginner. Im thinkin maybe next summer I will step up to a 250 or 250f(my 3rd season). If you can learn to go fast on a 125 by the time you move up you will be a much better rider. A 125 will really learn ya how to use the clutch to get at that power. I also like to ride used cheap 125s cause I tend to get off quite a bit. I couldnt justify spendin 3k+ on a bike that gonna hit the ground a bunch of times. When my $800 bike hits the ground im not so worried when it breaks.
