silencer repacking...?

I heard that every year or so you have to repack the silencer for because it gets splooged up. Does this affect power? I had some racent jetting prbs that i have fixed, but it was running to rich for a while so should i consider repacking? any help would be appreciated

If in doubt I would repack. Its cheap to do and will improve sound levels, power and ease of starting.

If you only need to re-pack once a year, you're not riding enough.

thanx for the advice, i guess il try repacking and see if there is a sound diff.
