I'm looking at a pair of used Tech 8's, size 8. I wear street shoe size 8.5 and typically do NOT wear MX socks with my boots, unless I'm going on a "real" ride. Do you think the size 8's will fit or should I go up to 9's? Fox size 9 (in Forma) is just a little bulky, but okay. I would rather use 8's if they'll fit for the trimmer profile.

The nearest bike shop w/ Tech 8's is 150 miles away so hopefully y'all will be able to give me some advice....

Thanks,

I am a size 10 and I got a 11 in tech 8's if you get them too small you can always take out the inner bootie, but I here you always go one up on your shoe size

I've found Alpinestars to run quite large! Mine (granted they're Tech-6's) are 10's and I'm normally an 11.5. The euro size tho is a 44 which is usually about right for me. Do yourself a big favor and go try them on first!

Just for the record I got to try on several boots this past weekend. I wear a true size 8.5 (meaning an 8 street shoe is too snug and a 9 is too loose). Tech 8's in size 9 fit very well with my usual Thorlo cowboy boot socks (slightly padded bottom), definitely would have to use 9's with MX socks. However, with Fox Formas, either 8 or 9 was fine, couldn't tell a lot of difference. In both Alpinestar Tech 6 and Vector, size 8 was okay. Size 9 would've given thick MX socks a better fit. Again, both sizes were fairly close.

Overall, I loved the Tech 8's in the shop. The Fox Forma's seemed like they've gotten a little cheaper since I (stupid!!!) sold my '99's. Liked the Vector's, but the Tech 8's really felt good around my ankle.

Just FYI and for the archives.
