Skid Plate Help

i need to replace the foam rubber between skid plate and frame...what's a good (and cheap) alternative?...maybe something from the hardware store, like an adhesive foam rubber that i can cut into strips? anybody tried this?

I have used the foam that come in a life preserver with good results. You can cut it into the perfect shape to fit into nooks and cranies. It is closed cell foam.
