I know that

i would have liked to have carl stay on. he has always shown me and others I know that he was very knowledgeable and could work well with in AMA. He will be missed, but I asked him to still help on some of our projects so hopefully he will be able to.
I have some deep reservations on the way this "dynamic trio" got elected. I mean, the guys they won over dont' have a international magazine and web site, not to mention aren't past world champions in racing ( absolutley no question the new directors won on name reconition no matter what they say)........how this will transform into good trustee's or the now call board members who knows. I can bet you one thing, talking to the congress people I know they are going to be very watchful and i would imagine skeptical. I personally fined it interesting that Ulrich in his first post as a director elect, puts up a question to get all the "dirt" on any and all ama dealings or officials so they can start the "clean up". well like another fellow Drn member said in here, its real easy to fine or have a complaint list.
I thought and was pretty p'od that they continually bad mouthed the AMA as a whole and got elected. I feel that there are hundreds of us out there that work our butts off to make ama better and if thats the atmosphere out there and these things are going to be the way of the future, ama is in trouble.

The pro dept screws up, we all suffer. what kind of things will these new directors be able to do in or with that department will be the key. IN MY humble opinion, I think that the whole board has to much power, I think that when congress, (the elected reps from the districts) says it is suppose to work a certain way, that it should not be altered. the board can completely remove, change or make new policy which isn't or could possibly be different then congress passes.
I have my opinions on some other problems AMA has as a whole, in fact certain names need to be gone.................period.
Will these new guys do that, doubtful, most likely these new guys will be some what restrained by the fact that they pretty much chastised all of the exsisting board members and AMA senior staff, not a good way to "get things done" 3 votes won't do that.

What AMA needs is people to work hard at a common goal, and most of them do that. They don't need a pro dept that seems to only look at what helps them in that dept. Pro dept needs to work with the amatuer dept a hell of alot better, they forget that we are holding their butts up. What i have seen here with these new guys are more "Pro" mentality, how that helps us in the amatuer dept will remain to be seen. If it stays the way it is, CCE and AMA splits, what will happen then is very interesting. Its almost impossible that AMA/Jam can pull off any kind of race let alone a series. IT would be totally cool if they could since the creation and continued growth of the 3000 pound gorilla called CCE won't be easy to deal with. If they go seperate and continue this way, the riders will be the ones that need help.
I was talking to a promoter at our banquet last week, he has been around 30 plus years, said "I can't understand why its always AMA's fault" I aggreed saying its so common that "blame AMA" when anything goes wrong. Easy target I guess.

Jay, I got ramblin here, but isn't funny that the Trib don't ever put anything in the paper about AMA or stuff like that ever........but then decides to blast AMA and blow the election deal and those things in there like that. Hell read though those lines! Either CCE which the SX divisions are based in Aurora IL. called and said hey print this, or our new "friends" the dynamic trio made a call from one publisher to another.......either way I find that article just more of the same "do do" thats been spreading around. Hell I know of a few people that been doigt the "addaboy" stuff to the knew guys in atticapation of having their ear in the future/or possible favors.........new faces old game in my opinion.

hA looks like i have on of those to!

an opinion...

Only time will tell,

With everything going on the road ahead looks pretty rocky.

The recent election upset and now the FIM stirring the pot by recognizing CCE with the World Championship SX series.

I will sure be glad when things are settled.

Hopefully the new guys will be more amatuer minded than Pro dept minded.
I have deep reservations. My main concern is that they all copied pasted the same Press release for "why they wanted the job of trustee"
If they did not have time to individually write a short piece on why they wanted the job in the first place then I'll continue to hold my reservations on how bad they REALLY want the job at all.
<shrugs>

On the other hand only time will tell and perhaps some new ideas and outlook will improve the whole organization!!
But the truth is the main problems reside in a very small division of the AMA.
The pro dept. where less than maybe 2 % of total entrees in events come from.
Go figure.

I will miss Carl as well.It is to bad one of the trustees that is well respected and has done an extreemly good job over the years had to leave.

kinda sounds like greek to me,i'm just starting to follow this stuf, but i gotta tell ya,it would seem that the amatuer ranks are the life blood of any race series/ org/ promoter/ntl club.the more kids race around thier locall districts, the stronger everything from bike sales to sx tickett sales would seem to go. i would think that this would be the number one focus, get a "new kid" out to the local club to ride. you'd be suprised at how much effort senior NCOs (not just recruiters)put into the recruitment effort of the army.we realized it wasn't much of an org, if at the end of the day, it was just a couple SFCs standing around with no troops.
