So, Who Here is Famous?

I know this may be a somewhat touchy subject, but I was curious as to who among the DRN ranks (besides Patman and myself) are big players in the off-road motorcycle world? I would assume that there are some big names here "in cognito" that don't want their true Identity revealed. Can we have a hint as to some of the heavy-hitters that are here? Just wonderin'...I'm not looking to blow anyone's cover or anything, and I stand to profit nothing from this. Just got to thinkin', and that's a dangerous thing!:D

You mean besides

Eric, Billy, AJ, Jeremy,......?

MXA Timmy and I'm sure Jody is over his shoulder. I'm pretty sure Donn Meada lurks, as well as Ken Faught. Trish Dowd said John "thinks I'm funny as hell" in an email. The list is quite long actually.

Oh, and don't forget Gomer, the guy has actually placed in a Arenacross and had his name said over the PA system (several times I believe, of course it usually made mention of being in contact with the dirt, again);)

dhoward she has more than one other personality.:p

Don't get me wrong...

...the talent in here is incredible. Just got to thinking, what if RC or JMC were members here? Wouldn't that be a hoot? BTW-John "Big Daddy" Dowd is my hero. That's what I refer to Jason (Blue Thunder) as: "Big Daddy". I mean, is "Wrooster" really Randy Hawkins, is "RM_Guy" Kevin Windham? Ya just never know...

Oh, and believe it or not, I got called over the PA during the Specialized Cactus Cup race in Atlanta back in '96.:) I was a youngin then! Beginner class, though. Never been a stick-boy like the pro's.The pro class was on ESPN later in the day but we still had the same announcers (Peter Graves and Penny D, I believe).

No, but I can pretend, can’t I? I figure if Papakeith can pretend to be a walrus floundering in the muddy waters of the Catskills, I can pretend to be KW. :p:p

Man brave folks around here. Papa is the only guy I saw at DW that could fold up an aluminum CR frame into a baseball size gob while he stood there smiling at ya. :)

Ya had to see the water hole that Papa went done into. I only saw him after he took a swim but I rode through the same puddle (small lake??). When he said that he was floating after he fell, I just about lost it! It’s going to take a while for anyone to forget it.

I was just using hypothetical examples. I mean, what if Jeremy McGrath is on here? I swear I heard that rumor! I won't say from who, but it did get me thinking. This is a very big entity we are a part of. I bet a lot more pros pay attention than we might think. Then again, who knows?:think

I didn't mean like that, sarge! But now that you bring it up, I was on ESPN when they were talking to Juli Furtada about winning the 1995 NORBA Cross-Country championship. Just standing there like a goof taking pictures. Plus, when I was home on leave from bootcamp in 1983, I was interviewed by the local news as that was when the Marine barracks in Lebenon was blown up.

ha....big lou the leatherneck!:think ok,that answers alot of naggin' questions:D anyway..not one to feel the constraints of a thread "topic", i had a good buddy that joined the "wrong" service when i joined the army. i had dated his sister, over for dinner, christmas etc etc....any how, i'm at bragg and he's in beruin, in those very barracks, lance cpl i think. then i hear that they'd been blown up. (enter profanity here) ! so i call his mom at home at an innapropriate hour and she told me that he was now stateside at some corp school. he'd flown out the night befor. boy were we relieved...but then again two days later a little suare' was being kicked off in the caribean and all the 82d was invted and my buddies mom was calling my mom at an innapropiate hour. that was an exciting week for families back in the ole' neighborhood.:p

Yep, a lot of folks don't realize that the "Cold War" was faught. We used to do rapid deployments to ungodly locations with 24 hrs or less notice. And I was an "air-winger", too. While I was actually in boot camp, the D.I.'s would be telling us how one or two Marines died today (in Beruit). Kinda scary for a 17 year old.
OK, back to our regularly scheduled topic...:D

Oh yeah?

I just got a phone call from one of the winners of the 1998 Nobel Prize in Physics. And get this, he was asking me a question.

Fact is stranger than truth.
