I wish I could tell ya there was a method to the madness, he just won't sit still long enough to experiment, had to go with what I "thought" would work. Kept him on the table all of 5 minutes :laugh:

With the black BG I assumed I needed a hair light, so I ran the boom as high as possible and turned power down all the way, tilted the box back towards the bg a little. The key generated most of the light, the third on the far left also set way down. First several were blown-out (to an extent so is the second one posted here), got one adjustment in before he knocked the seemless roll over, lol. Not sure I learned much in that short time, but hey... had to give it a go.

FYI, a hairlight is nothing more than an overhead used to seperate the subject from dark bg's ... really necessary for dark-haired people (or in this case a hat).

And BTW, I couldn't be paid enough to photograph kids in a setting like that, just don't have the patience.
