Well... I got to go to my first Supercross this weekend. A quick trip but it was a blast. I'm just jonesin to tell some folks about this trip. Maybe some of you have done this kinda thing and it's not a big deal, but for me it was a huge way to see my first Supercross. I recently found out that my cousin is friends with some folks where Supercross is a big part of what they do for a living. He called me a little while back and said "Hey I know you are into dirtbikes... you want to come to a Supercross?" (is this a trick question?) So I lucked into a VIP package that got me full access and riders seating. The people I was with were very cool and seemed to know everyone.
"Hey.. meet Jeff Emig... and this is Pete Fox... oh this is Ryan Hughes wanna go talk to him?"
"Want some goggles and sunglasses? Here ya go.."
"there's a party afteward you wanna go?" (again... is this a trick question?)
"so what bike do you ride? oh... one of those crazy trials bikes eh?" (after awhile I gave up explaining)
I didn't know Cameron Diaz and Drew Barrymore were into Supercross, but there they were. Security was keeping Adam Carolla out of the pits so we hazed him about not having the right connections.
I don't know if there is a bad seat in the house but all I know is that mine were stellar. Stewart was insane to watch. In the main he went down in the first corner from there went from last to 2nd by the finish. I think he would have passed Pingree if there were two more laps. This kid is a freight train. LaRocco had us all standing and chanting 'over thirty club'. That dude is fast.
Many adult beverages were tossed back and by the end of the night I couldn't pronounce 'David Vullemein' "Velllooomeenooomenoom" Anywho... that is the bar knapkin version of my first Supercross. I hope it doesn't come of as a brag session, I just thought you folks would appreciate it.
