hi, the manual for my '74 cr125 calls for a ngk b9ev, can i still get this plug at my local bike shop and if not what plugs can i use in place of this? also, what do the numbers and letters stand for? thanks in advance!
That's a common plug for nearly all 125's well into the 90's. 9 is the heat range and EV is a fine electrode. You can use a B9ES and save a few bucks but it is more likely to foul if your jetting is fat/rich. You can also use a BR9EV, BR9ES. The R is for resistor, it lessens ignition interference, not an issue with your bike but OK to use.
There are also other brands of plugs that can be cross referenced to the B9EV. I used to run a Bosch equivalent to the B9EV in a 1978 RM125C.
