Sorry to bring up this question about resistor spark plugs. I did a search and read all the posts about resistor plugs and it reminds me a little of the on going debate about oil mixing ratios. Anyway, I have a 01 YZ250 and went to the Yamaha shop to get some parts and a new spark plug. I requested a BR8EG and he gave me a B8EG. I said wait a second my owners manual bike specs requires the resistor plug. The parts guy tells me don't need it and don't worry about it! Any chance someone has given USA Yamaha a call about resistor plugs in their dirtbikes?

Yamaha USA will just say the same I will tell you: The dealer probably didn't have the R plugs. It likely won't kill the bike outright to use a non-R plug, but it can cause electrical interference problems that cause bad running. I don't know if the non-R plugs can cause permanent damage.

I went to the track this week using the non resistor plug and the bike ran normal. Oh well, guess I better get a different plug to CMA.
