What is the correct procedure for tightening the spokes on my bike without having a spoke torque wrench? What side of the bike do you stand on to turn either clockwise or counter-clockwise? Is there anything else?

It really doesn't matter which way you turn the wheel. I found that starting at the rim lock and tightening every third spoke until you have gone around three times. This tightens the rim evenly.
Hope this helps. :D

Don't make more than a quarter turn or half turn to tighten it. You don't want to pull the rim out or round or cause wobble. Small adjustement.s
