I am having a problem with the after market spring on my 88 KDX. I installed an Eibach .48 rear spring. The spring vibrates very badly at about ¼ throttle and then settles down. It oscillates when the engine rpms are going up and back down again. The I.D and O.D of the spring are .200 inches larger than the stock spring; the overall length is the same as stock. I made a delrin collar that fits snugly inside the spring coils, I did this because the larger diameter of the spring was allowing it to slide crooked on the spanner nuts located on the bottom of the shock. The collar made the vibration go away some but not completely. I called Eibach and talked to an engineer, he was stumped! Eibach says I have the correct p/n spring for my bike. Is there away to dampen the spring coils without making it look like Gobber and Gomer Pile worked on my bike? :joke: The new spring rides great but the vibration gets to me after a while.
