It started out kinda slow, but got better as it went along.

I've always been a Star Trek fan, so I think I'll give it a couple of chances. I just wish they weren't taking Voyager off the air. I think it was the best series so far.

I agree with Singletracker. I loved Voyager. I don't think the New Enterprise will last very long as it lost my attention very quick and I am a loyal Star Trek fan.:( :( :( :(

Oh, my wife and I miss Voyager a lot, but for the first show of a new series, I thought it was pretty good.

Here's what I wrote to a friend about it.

I/we Liked it too. They did a good job making the ship and set look "old" but newer than anything we have now. They also did a good job with Captain Archer. Good opening show. I liked how they had a few lines talking about the questionable reliability of the new technology, transporter, phaser, warp core. Those things added a "just starting out" feel which was good. They also had a good mix of characters and crew. I like the addition of the Brit on board.... I guess he was tactical? The Vulcan girl (aka 7of9 with borg implants) is the science officer, Trip, who I think is in engineering? I need to watch it again. Their uniforms looked pre Kirk, no emblem which was a good touch. The Doctor (aka Neelix's brother) had a good mix of technology. He had a crude tricorder but still cut people open, which Voyagers Doctor never did. I also liked how their sensors were very limited but could be modified and upgraded. Overall a good start. The one thing that wasn't clear was when Archer said that Starfleet said they could continue their mission...... which was what? I guess to just seek out and explore. The computer graphics and morphing on the aliens was great. Yes it does have good potential. I think it will do well, but we will see.

Also a long time Trekker, (God no wonder I'm still single)

I agree with all of you, I enjoyed it as well. But before you worry about it, remember all of the previous series were WEAK the first season (yes even Voyager )

Remember the one piece unis in ST:TNG? the throwback storylines (pretty close to classic Trek rip-offs) So we'll have to give the writers and actors a few episodes to establish the characters a little bit.

I loved the NX-01 Enterprise. Very cool.

Did not like the singing opening music. Lose it.

What I didn't get was supposedly the Vulcans were "holding us back" from warp technology (at least past warp 1 which we did ourselves) because we wern't ready. Yet we have all of these other alien species (like the Doctor) on Earth and part of Starfleet. So did we just open up the planet for other species to come on in, but we have to sit around and watch all these others using faster than light travel? Just wondering.

Spock was a dirtbiker!

I liked it. My wife didn’t think there was any chemistry between the new cast but I thought it was We followed Voyager until our local cable company no longer offered UPN! We missed the last year of it.

BTW, I LIKE Vulcan women now.:p

I missed the first half hour (and I'm glad to see I'm not the only freak for these shows!), but from what I saw it looks pretty cool. I haven't seen the whole thing yet (recorded it), but I like the "tension" between us and the Vulcans so far.

I wish I'd seen the first part! I started from where they got past warp 4. Where'd the Klingon come from? How'd the Asian girl learn Klingon? How come the Klingons look like in the later shows but not like in the original Star Trek?

I'm glad this show is on. I'll be a regular!

How'd I miss this?????? What network? What day/time? My wife & I got hooked on The Next Generation, then skipped Deep Space 9, now back (sporadically) on Voyager.

My claim to Star Trek Fame? Was best friends with Peter Lauritson's nephew (Peter is one of the producers from Next Generation). Even went deer hunting with "Speedo".

I've been a Trek fan since TOS (The Original Series) first aired and I'm glad they took Voyager off as I thought it was the worst of the all the Trek shows.

But so far I agree with your assesment of Enterprise, started slow, got better, I'll give it a few more episodes to convince me.

OK. I loved the original series and TNG was my favorite. I sorta lost interest throughout the DS9 and Voyager series. The last few movies also were sub-par to say the least. IMHO.

Last night when the show started with the Rod Stewart theme song, I got that sinking feeling in my gut that this may be bad. However, I found myself really enjoying it. (I'm not sure about the Vulcan Sex Goddess though)

...then somehow I fell asleep with about 45 minutes left in the show! What happened?! Help!

I'll be watching again next Wednesday. Oh yeah, while we're on the SciFi subject - what I'm really looking forward to is Star Wars EPII - AOTC in May. But that's a topic for another thread. ;)

They explained this in STNG. The klingons used genetic engineering to change themselves to the appearance that they exhibit in NG. The real question in my mind is why a Klingon is present on Earth at all, since they were discovered in the middle of the first season of the original Star Trek, which takes place after the new show.

I don't remember that, and so far I cannot confirm or refute it. Do you have an episode name where this happened? I know in the first season episode "Balance of Terror" was the first time they ever saw a Romulan. I will continue to check.

After checking further, Klingons first appeared March 23 1967, in the episode "Errand of Mercy". One of the first lines was Kirk telling Spock that in the latest message from Star Fleet it said that negotiations with the Klingon Empire were breaking down. It never said how long they had been going on or how long humans had known of Klingons.

I recorded it, so if anyone would like to have a copy of it, if you would cover the cost of the tape and shipping, probably could get by on $4.00 - $5.00, I will copy the tape and send it to you.

OK, The Klingon crash landed on earth on a mission from Rigel 10 back to Kronos (the Klingon home world). He crashed probably from the two yellowish alien looking guys. The two guys that were chasing him were killed in an explosion because the Klingon shot the silo they were in. Then he got shot by the farmer.

The Asian girl is some sort of speech and language teacher who studies foreigh languages. She was picked by Archer to help assist in communications with the Klingons.

Wednesday's at 8 pm (eastern and pacific) on UPN.

I got to see a re-showing of the pilot, and I dig it. I hope they flesh out some more of the back story (Archer's old man and Z. Cochrane building the Warp 5 engine without help from the Vulcans, what the heck species is the Doctor, some of the rebuilding after WW3), and it'll be neat to see the genesis of the Federation.

A listener phones in to a radio talk show on the RTL. He asks the host,
"Please, in the Star Trek series you have white people, black people,
Chinese people. Why are there no Arab people?"
Ths host pauses for quite a while before answering, "Because it is set in
the future."

Doctor Bashir on DS9. I'm pretty sure he's Arabic. I think the guy who played him was Alexander Siddig (and I think it was Siddig al Fadil, or something like that, in earlier episodes).

What did you guys think of the second episode? The Asian girl (still don't know her name) needs to get a little more daring. I guess that was the purpose of that episode. Next weeks looks good from the coming attractions. What did you guys think?
