Once my bike is warm and I'm restrarting it it wont fire up right away. So to get it started I'll hold the throttle wide open and kick it and I'm off. Is this bad for my bike???

Do you use the hot start? Thats basically how it works. If so your pilot circuit is probly a bit rich. Leaning the fuel screw slightly may help. And holding the throttle wide open shouldn't hurt it as long as you close it as soon as it starts.

Like Joe said, it's ok.. It won't hurt anything. Of course you close the throttle down as soon as it starts though, right????

You shouldn't have to hold it wide open to start. In fact, I've found it quite difficult to start 2-strokes if the throttle is any more than half open. I severely flooded my bike when it sat upside down on the side of a hill, I had to hold the throttle wide open to get it to start then. Is your bike running excessively rich on the pilot circuit or flooding? Maybe the float level is too high? If you let the bike sit with the fuel valve on, does it eventually start dumping fuel out the carb vents?

I don't think it's the floats. The gas doesn't leak out with the valve on. It might be a little rich. I really only do it when the bike is warm and after a few kicks I get impatient and open er up.

The problem I had this weekend is that I tried to start with a fouled spark plug (not known at the time), and when it didn't start after a few, I tried the old tried and true open up the throttle method. Well this time it didn't work. I flooded the hell out of it.

So my new feeling is that for a hot start it's ok, but not a cold.

Any other thoughts?

Sometimes when woods riding, If I stall, I may have to open the throttle to start... Nothing wrong with it... I wouldn't worry about it too much.

If it's jetted properly and running right, don't sweat it.
