Hi All, It's been awhile since I posted. So I am just checking in.... :) Picked up a DRZ400S and have been looking at putting some rides together and was wondering if anyone has done any rides on the pacific crest trail....specificly the area's around Idylwild,Lytle creek,Wrightwood..?

Take a look at this website and check out the "map pages" section #1 thru #5. I can access the trail system from my house and was wondering if I could ride all the way to Wrightwood?

Cool website and thanks for the link!

I don't know the answer to your question, but wanted to point out that this is for a 'motorized version of the Pacific Crest Trail' and NOT the actual Pacific Crest Trail used by hikers.

FWIW, my buddy's were riding near the 'real' PCT. They came upon an unmarked intersection and took the trail. Lo and behold, they were on the 'real' PCT and came across a ranger coming the other way. Tickets were given all the way around. Apparently the rider is reponsible for knowing whether an unmarked intersection with a legal OHV trail is for a hiking only trail.

My friends ended up plea bargaining and getting a slap on the wrist, but the maximum penalties for riding on illegal portions of the 'real' PCT are VERY steep (if I remember correctly it was up to $5,000 and possible jail time).

I remember several years ago we were riding some single-track up above Rowher Flat and came across a trail marked 'Pacific Crest Trail'. Not knowing what it was we took it, and were treated to spectacular views of the Antelope Valley. I guess it's a good thing we were up there on a weekday. :nener:

As far as riding up in Wrightwood, I see the locals up there cruising around all the time, but if anyone is aware of any trails/roads up there that I can legally take my Green-stickered bike on please let me know. (For the record, if I lived up there I would probably make some single-track myself!) :moon: <----This is for the greenies that keep us from using our public lands the way we'd like.

That's exactly the reason why I picked up a DRZ400S....Now I just basicly ride wherever I feel like it and don't even think twice about it........ :)

Best thing I have done yet...Absolutely love it....No regrets.. :aj:
