Tried to install Bark Busters and it seems
the end of the bar is solid. I drilled into the end
and it seems it's solid for more then an inch.
Has anyone installed Bark Busters on stock bars ?

(working on a stock 04)

Thanks
John

It's possible but lots of trouble. Do yourself a favor and toss those stock bars and get some good ones. There gonna bend every time you fall anyway. I can't believe Kawasaki still puts that junk on their new bikes. It's down right embarassing.

DRZ_John..great question. I just found that out tonight. Just bought a 03 220 and broke my brake lever my first weekend out...30 miles from camp. I think that I am now going for some new bars...thanks for the info. :bang:

Thanks for the info

I just ordered some bars and grips.

"isn't that bar weight to keep vibration down"
Don't know...I have seen bar weights on street bikes
but they just unbolt from the bars. My KDX seems to have
them welded inside the ends of the bars.

Ah, yes, I remember that on my bars also (04 200) I cut mine down an inch on each side, and they slide right in, but had a accident and bought new bars, and barkbusters.

Two quick choices: Cut off the ends just past the inserts & that should be just about right for woods riding. Or tap the hole in the bushing/plug to 1/4 x 20 threads and buy socket head screws at your hardware store to fit.
Preference is to buy some good bars that fit you better. Search these forums for lots of suggestions.
Enjoy your ride. John
