the moderator will probably move this but....

anyone know of a less expensive substitute for 2.5w fork oil. i want something very thin and i have read that ATF is the equivalent of about 7.6w.

can you use 5w-40 or anything else you can find at the local wal-mart or autoparts store?

thanks

I wouldn’t try it if I were you, you can use $2 fork oil if you have $2 forks. pre mix & gear oil is just as important, I recommend silkolene fully synthetic pre mix and silkolene light gear oil.....motorex is also OK.

ATF... $2.00 ATF, and change often.

Last time I bought fork oil it was 7 bucks (Bel Ray). Seems like that is already pretty cheap.

I know this is a kdx fourum, but my yz uses $21 a quart yamalube. At least that is what the shop told me. There has to be a cheaper way.

Jer at MXTech uses and recommends Mobil 1 in both the shock and forks. If it meets MXTech's requirements it will certainly meet ours.
