Suspension Oil Changes

How often should fork oil and shock oil be changed? Should it be regularly changed like transmission fluid (every few rides)? Is it simple to do yourself or should it be taken to a dealer? Thanks for your replies!

Hard riders should have a service every 20 hours-maybe even less.
Slower riders can go a season, but if the oil goes off then it wont protect the moving parts properly.Basically im saying a fast rider can kill a fluid by getting it too hot(sometimes in one ride) but slower riders tend to just wear the oil out over a long time.
