Swapping out a crank, need lots of input asap
To install my crank, I heated the cases and dropped the bearings in. I gave them a few taps with a hammer to ensure they were seated. Then, I heated the inner race of the bearing on the right side with the torch and dropped the crank in. I installed the left side bearing in the case, heated it, and assembled the case over the crankshaft. When I heat parts like this, I usually put a dab of grease with a known drop point temperature on the part being heated. The particular grease I used melts around 450 degrees F. So, If I heat the part until the grease melts, I know the part is probably around 400 degrees when the grease does melt. That's not hot enough to affect the properties of most materials. Before breaking everything apart again, try using a screwdriver to move the cankshaft assembly side to side in the crankcase. That might free things up. Just bring it back to the center when you're done. Otherwise, it seems to me like a bearing may have not seated all of the way either in the race or on the crank.
