Check out the recent issue of Cycle news, Garrahan's bike is in it which is a 250 SX. They list his mods and I'll bet it would be close. He uses the bike for Hare Scrambles and GNCC's.
We made a woods bike out of '00 KX125. Mostly involved porting of the cylinder and head. Reed spacer helped and also a Freddette 5mm pipe spacer @ the cylinder outlet made some down low torque. My son finished 4th in the 200C class in his last enduro on this bike. I darn near houred out on my 300EXC! So it was not an easy ride!
I really enjoy my sx, but in the woods it is alot of hard work. Virtualy no torque. When you have the bike piped up where you can use it, you run great risk of the wheels breaking loose easy in soft stuff.
It can be ridden, but it needs an aggressive style to keep momentum.
I can't imagine trying to make the 125sx my choice of woods bikes. Especially when KTM has some woods specific champions in the line-up.
