Tachometer recommendation

I'm looking for a tachometer to check idle speed and exhaust valve settings for my dirt bikes, as well as simlar diagnostics for my street bikes (2 cylinder to 4 cylinder). Does anyone have any recommendations? What about the laser tachometers? I'm not sure how those would work, especially on an enclosed engine.

You may want to Check out the the SenDEC FS-500 or FSA-600.
I have their standard hour meter and it works well.

SenDEC is the OEM supplier for the Yamaha hour meters that alot of people on DRN are running.
