In my engine there is two machine marks and a blue dot, which one is my TDC mark, I have an RMZ 450. Also, am I correct in assuming that when trying to find the compression stroke its when the motor starts to get harder to turn.
If you are asking this for doing the valves, I just use the cam lobes. When the cam lobes are pointing away from each other you are on TDC on the compression stroke. Just for giggles I put a long screw driver in the spark plug hole against the piston and get it right at the top. See this link for pictures
