I put a valve spring into a spring tester and fully compressed it and the tester read 120 lbs./ half inch. Then I compressed the spring a quarter of an inch and it read 60 lbs. Then I compressed another like spring that I cut in half. At the .25 inch mark on the tester it read 53 lbs.
