i wonder if any other manufacturers kill thier 125's
Well Honda have already released pics and stats of their 125, I cant see Yamaha dropping their new 125 and KTM surely wont drop theirs at least til they know the new 250F is good enough so that leaves Suzuki? Anyone know if there will be an 06 RM125?

wouldn't be surprised if Honda drops the 125 for 07. I predict that 07 we will see only yamaha and KTM with 125's, and 07 hond will be first to kill the 250 2 stroke :pissed:

The sad thing is that all these thumpers are going to send the entry price of dirt ridning through the roof. Not only is re-build and maintaince expensive, but the purchase price is much higher and likely to continue to climb. This can only hurt the sport:rant:

And yet this photo is floating around - http://www.adrenalintrip.net/forums/uploads/809212068.JPG. We heard the same rubbish last year about Honda not producing the CR125 for 05 when they did and the 06 is now on their site. Sounds like more rumours to me - it's a very good way for MotorCycleDaily to get their name on most forums out there. Consider that ;)?
(If you check out my site now you'll find a rumour, *cough*, I mean STORY about Bubba having been eaten by a dinosaur, please check it out and spread to all the forums you know, with a big free link to my site of course :))

Unlike most internet sites Motorcycle Daily has a very strong track record for accurate reporting. Dirck Edge usually won't report on something this way unless he can back it up.

I'm hoping you're wrong Rich, I was really looking forward to an aluminium framed KX125 at some point :(.
Though if they're not bringing out a 125, what is that photo I posted of? Fingers crossed...

They can't give a KX125 away in the Midwest US market and I'm sure it's not much better in other places. If people want to keep 125 two-strokes alive the best way is to make it happen with MONEY. In Keep buying them and they will stay. Strong sales have a way of swaying corporate opinion.

I agree, it would be smart for Kawi to consolidate their dirt line up and it's pretty plain to see the 125 is the least important of all of their models.

I think it might get released but in very small numbers. Maybe you have to order it, but the 125 class is dead. There si 1 125 in the entire class in the nationals and that is metcalf. The day of premix is behind us and can you blame it. The 250f is a faster ,e asier to ride machine for most people. the only exception is a kid coming off an 85.

That's absolutely correct...The mantra won't stop until off road riding is almost gone...

Moto GP is getting the noose tightened on it all the time..

First they allow 4 strokes of double displacement to compete against the 500cc 2 stroke to lure riders and manufacturers to have a competitive edge by allowing a huge displacement advantage...As the 500cc 2 stroke in roadracing became extinct it becomes a 4 stroke only game...Now because of emissions bullcrap they are making rules to decrease the size of the 4 stroke to be limited to 800cc (less emissions than a 990cc motor)...

Do they actually think that with the small amount of bikes competing in MotoGP that they will have an effect on "global warming" ? No....They expect the "technology" to make it from the track to the street when eventually there will be limits on the size of motors that the manufacturers will be able to produce to sell to the general public.

The reason this has come so fast in MotoGP is the fact that it is a "world" competition witht he majority of the races being held in countries that have signed the "Kyoto Treaty" which is designed to reduce emisions with HUGE penalties for countries whos emissions exceed levels assigned to that country..They decide the amount of "credits" by the size of that nations wealth.

The U.S. hasn't signed the treaty but it may not be long before we have an administration that gives in and signs the treaty...

This is all true and factual information..Just type in the word "Kyoto Treaty" in your favorite internet search engine and you can see the reality of the document yourself and all the details that it contains.

Inaction will result in losing your right to ride eventually..Believe it or not.

This really sucks. The KX 125 is a great bike. We just found a 2004 model that looked decent for 2000. Obviously, we bought it.

It is for a kid moving up from a CR 85.

I love my '04 KX 125, reason stated it was dropped cause it was doing poorly in sales, personally I think all 125's sales have dropped off. Sans the the new YZ's but I bet they'd have poor sales if yamie wouldn't have upgraded them.

Kawie based it off of how many 250F's sold vs 125's, but did they account for the fact that not everyone who bought a 250F is just a 125 class rider? Plus throw in the fact it was thier only real 4 stroke MX bike. Plus what about all thier little team green rider's who race loretta's what are the 125 school boy riders going to race now? I think some over zealous bean counter in japan didn't do enough market research. What would the sales figures be like if they would of had that 450? IMO I think this was a dumb marketing move by them and if someone wants a 125 they will go else where not everyone wants a 250F.

I agree. Not everyone will want to get a 250f and if people want to get a 125 then they will just go to another brand. If everyone else goes to another brand though, that might make the 125 sales go up for the other brand and maybe help the 125. :)

I really DO NOT THINK that will happen, but just maybe... :think:or maybe im just hoping... :coocoo:

would be sweet to be the only mfg. to have a 125 still when everyone else quits 'em that is approx 5x the sales ...i would try to make stopping sales look attractive to all other mfgs and the minute they drop em........bang i put mine back on the mkt.
of course the rm125 with green plastics will work fine call it an rx for what ails you
