Racer Productions and Racer X Passion Tour
Press Release
Morgantown, WV – Racer X Illustrated and Racer Productions, Inc., producer of the Suzuki Grand National Cross Country Series (“GNCC”), the High Point and Steel City Motocross Nationals and various ATVA National Motocross events, announce the creation of The Passion Tour, a series of fund-raising events to raise awareness and support for the RiderDown Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping injured riders.
The RiderDown Foundation provides financial assistance and personal support to injured off-road riders. Their medical auditing service has helped injured riders save thousands on excessive and/or unnecessary medical charges. Financial assistance may include ‘direct pay’ to medical providers. RiderDown Angels visit riders in the hospital and at home, and offer a friendly voice during difficult times.
“There are many great charities and fund-raisers for injured riders, and we wish we could support them all, but we believe the RiderDown Foundation most closely represents the amateur racer that is the backbone and soul of our sport,” commented Tim Cotter, Event Manager for Racer Productions.
“The Passion Tour name was chosen to recognize and celebrate the passion an injured rider continues to have for our sport,” said Cotter. “Just because a rider may not be able to race, doesn’t mean he doesn’t have the passion for it. And sometimes it’s that passion that sparks the determination to work hard and recover,” continued Cotter.
The Passion Tour will consist of a variety of fund-raising events and activities held throughout the year. Passion events will be identified by the above logo. Participant/ contributors will receive Passion event stickers in appreciation for their support.
The Tour was launched this past weekend at the Suzuki GNCC Awards Banquets at the Four Seasons Sheraton, in Cranberry, PA, where $2,750 was raised through 50/50 raffles.
The next event will commence this weekend in Toronto at the start of the 2007 Supercross season, when Scott Goggles’ Bevo Forte unveils his unique RiderDown program – “Supercross’ Biggest Loser!” Bevo will be weighed in at the Toronto Supercross, and tight controls will be implemented to monitor his caloric intake throughout the season. At the end of the SX season, there will be a final weigh-in at the Las Vegas Supercross. Pledges will contribute per pound for each pound Bevo loses. Pound Pledgers will be able to sign-up on the RiderDown website, at www.RiderDown.org.
Other Passion events will include the GNCC Golf Tournament on Friday, June 22, 2007, at the Wisp GNCC in Deep Creek, Md; donations collected at various GNCC Parts Unlimited Dinners; Racer X Brands will sell RiderDown Purple Passion bracelets through its online store at www.RacerXBrand.com; plans are being made for an online auction; Racer X Ride Days East and West (dates and locations TBA). More events will be added and a series ad created, which will appear in Racer X Illustrated, The Racing Paper, and other publications produced by Filter Publications, the parent company of Racer X.
