BLAST FROM THE PAST: CHARLES HALCOMB- MAMMOTH! How about my long time friend Charles Halcomb racing the Mammoth MX in 1977. Charles was racing for Factory Husqvarna, his Manager was Terry Knott (the two would work together in the years coming at Suzuki). Charles finished third behind Rex Staten and Mike Bell. Not bad company to keep! Charles told us that they would take off the stock tank (to preserve and reinstall it when they sold the bikes) and he fit a Cycle Craft fiberglass unit that Bob Grossi gave him.
