When reading DV's screed, I couldn't help but think about the clip from '03. The one where DV punts Roncada off the track, then bitch slaps the much smaller Roncada after the race.

The Cobra really should have kept his mouth shut and taken the decision like a man.

Oh well - the season just got a lot more exciting. Not only is Windham back in the title hunt, but anytime KW and DV get close to one another, I want some camera coverage.

Nice to see DV is not afraid to say it how he sees it, and has not been completely brainwashed by the marketing men and the big money. Also, of course, everything he says is completely true. I used to be a great admirer of K Dub, but if he really did change his story the week later after he had discovered that bravado didn't impress the AMA I will be no longer. Not that it will worry anyone of course.

This decision will damage the AMA far more than the original IMO, but hopefully they think that the message has got through by now, and we can look forward to more of the great racing we have had since the incident. As I watched the racing between Reed and Windham I was thinking to myself what a good job the AMA had done in insisting on clean racing, as if they hadn't we would have been denied the spectacle the first time one or other had the opportunity to make a take out move. It is a shame that the AMA cannot stick to its principles in the face of a bit of pressure.

The real whiner is KW, he should have just accepted his punishment and got on with the job.

After all of this I'm going to be at the next race. How cool is that? BTW Love KW, don't care for DV but in this case both are victims of the AMA.

I read with interest your "Money" , "Big Money" comments relating to this iissue, here and in the other topic. Tell us all about this "Big Money" ? I'm surprised you aren't against Pro racers as a whole, their just in it for that Big Money afterall. :laugh:

Saying that KW is the "real whiner" now is the stupidest arguement I have heard in a while.

DV gets into KW in the first turn. KW has the skills to shut it down and not go trackside.

KW goes hot into a turn and they are both struggling for the same line. DV DOESN'T have the skills to shut it down and stay on two wheels.

Seems like this can all be blamed on DV's crappy ass riding skills.

WAAAAAAAAAAAA. I ran into KW and went off the track. I think I'll whine and complain and get some points from him. Blah. You, Mr. Muddy, would have appealed just the same way KW did.

And for the stupid arguement from DV, and his fans, which I am not, that he had a chance to take first: How many times that he stays upright in a race has Mr. WhineyBoy DV placed first? I credit Huffman for that and Im glad he's still racing.

He needs to settle for 5th - 7th best and let it go. LaRocco kicks his butt.

I see the point, but rules is rules, if they are wrong get them changed, but don't allow them to be flouted. The fact that Reed went down merely allowed us to see just how fast KW is, if you recall back a week or several I was saying how I would like to see KW up where he belongs in SX.

Milk, I don't really mean that I think KW is a whiner, that comment should be read in the context of a reply to a comment about DV being a whiner, as in "if DV is a whiner for complaining at his treatment then so is KW for complaining about being docked". I don't regard either of them as whiners, you may say its the stupidest argument that you've heard in a while, but really you should realise it was not meant to be an argument, as even if true it would prove nothing. As for the original incident that has been discussed at length before, but for what its worth I think the original decision was correct and the AMA have opened a whole new can of worms by backing down from it in the face of pressure because it involved such a popular rider.

"Big money" - popular rider = more fans, more TV, more takings. Penalizing popular rider = disgruntled fans ( see DRN for proof ), less fans, less TV, less marketing opportunity, less takings for all concerned. I am saying that all the above may have been taken into consideration when making the revised decision, but probably wasn't in the original decision.

I don't think I said it does. However, it is all part of the pressure process. If the popularity of SX is seen to diminish as a result of the AMAs stewardship, then the AMA will not benefit. It seems obvious to me that the AMA is keen to maintain the popularity of SX, if by their actions everyone involved lost money then it may not be beneficial to their future. I stick by my original ( complete ) statement, however cynical it may sound.

I actually thought DV's comments were pretty funny. :ohmy:

I also agree with muddy226 on his point about the AMA backing down. Whilst I'm glad Windham got his points back (even though I personally thought it was an intentional take out move), it doesn't say much for the AMA's authority.

Racing is racing. I think that if DV wouldnt have complained to the AMA or whoever he complained to, this never would have happened. Rubbin' and racin' has gone on since the introduction of supercross. Block passes are block passes and they have been in racing since its inception. He rubbed and got rubbed. Actually, he rubbed and re-rubbed, but thats a moot point. Jon K. and JP beat that horse dead a week ago. :)

I guess DV learned a valuable lesson from all of this. When someone is in the same line as you, let off. Its done everyday and every weekend of the Supercross and Motocross circuit. Give yourself a chance. Ride heads up. Isnt that what a good rider does?

I think we lose site of why the decision was reversed.

The appeal board found that while points penalties are with merit and necessary, Windham’s actions in this case did not violate the AMA Supercross/Motocross Rulebook

There are no rules in the book about block passes, rubbin, etc... Just a reference of riding with the intent of doing harm to another rider.

Does anybody honestly think that KW had the intent of hurting or causing harm to DV?

Next year the AMA should add a rule specifically stating something about take out moves if that is where everyone deems the sport should go. Today there is NO rule against block passing, selecting agressive lines, etc.

If people want to argue about something, don't argue on the point of if it was a tek out move, or dirty riding or wahtever. Argue about the rule - did he intend to cause harm. I don't thinks so.

I agree and that is my point as well. Cool G just got his points back now as well...the AMA looks laughable right now, ...Are they now gonna release a statement like, "Ok, you see that we are serious now, penalties will stick now for rough riding!"....
I dont know..
I must admit though, it has seemed to work and the racing is good. Now we get to see riders battle for many laps as opposed to someone getting bowled over in a turn.
I guess we will see in the next coming weeks!

Well, apparently " I am ready to rock n' roll " means roll out the red carpet or do the flower girl thing and sprinkle rose petals as he passes by me.

I wasn't looking for anything dirty but I expected more out of DV after his comments a couple weeks ago. He didn't seem to put up much resistance to KW in the main when he got passed for either 2nd or 3rd, can't really remember. Nice, way to back up all the big talk. :|
